Wayback Weekend #4

This week’s selection is also from high school times, and it’s just a good old song about le desir.

By the way, I just decided tonight to call these things “Wayback Weekends,” so I had to go back to all the other ones and update them to look like they’d been called that all along. Haha.

Squeeze

Hey you
Squeeze fruit
Don’t you dare leave until I’m through
Hey you
Taste bliss
How did I let it come to

How far below the surface
How far below the surface
Have you

I’m underneath your dreaming tide
With the peaches and the patricide
The flaming legend long since past
Is waking up
And rising

How far below the surface
How far below the surface
Have you

Cos I don’t see what I saw before
I can’t even tell anymore

No “right think”
And no regret
Your loaded words against my neck
Let’s buckle to ambivalence
We can burn the evidence

How far below the surface
How far below the surface
Have you pressed me
