Return to Charlottesville’s Book Club, Nov. 2025

Last Saturday I returned to Book Club, C’ville’s music-venue-in-an-afterhours-bookstore, opening for some casually virtuosic student shoegazers and some peddlers of self-described “slutty goth-punk”. All of whom were very young and very talented.

To be very honest, for the majority of the day preceding the show, I was wrestling with some kind of nondescript malaise and age-related hyper-awareness, but I am glad I pushed through and delivered what I had planned: a relatively short set with alternate arrangements (courtesy of my personality-packed Yamaha Reface) of a handful of songs from the last album, plus a couple covers.

I wasn’t entirely convinced I was in control for a large part of the proceedings, but I was nonetheless received well and even told this Book Club appearance exceeded my last. I am pleased to say that with each experience my artistic vision for Sold Kingdom gets clearer to me.
